Annie Awards Nominierungen 2013: Der Zeichentrickfilm schlägt zurück!

Annie Award Nominierungen 2013: Es gibt sie noch, die kleinen Wunder und Zeichen, die einem den Glauben an die Filmwelt bewahren lassen. So etwa die diesjährigen Filmtitel, die in der Kategorie “Bester animierter Feature Film” nominiert wurden. Neben den üblichen CG-Verdächtigen aus Hollywood wie Despicable Me 2 (Ich – Einfach unverbesserlich 2, Illumination MaCGuff), The Croods (Die Croods, DreamWorks Animation), Monsters University (Die Monster Uni, Pixar) und Frozen (Die Eiskönigin, Disney Animation) wurden auch die Filme – haltet euch fest – Ernest & Celestine (in insgesamt 6 Kategorien!) und die beiden Animes A Letter To Momo (Momo e no Tegami) und The Wind Rises (Kaze Tachinu, 2 Kategorien) mit einer Nominierung bedacht!

Wie bereits bei den Children BAFTAs findet sich auch bei den Annies der Kurzfilm Room on the Broom wieder, der von Studio Soi aus Stuttgart umgesetzt wurde. In er gleichen Kategorie (Bestes animiertes TV-Special) befindet sich ausserdem Pixars Toy Story of Terror. Was uns besonders freut ist die Nominierung des Kurzfilms Wedding Cake der ehemaligen Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg Studentin Viola Baier, deren Film wir euch an dieser Stelle genauer vorgestellt hatten, inklusive einem ausführlichen Interview mit der talentierten Animatorin. Herzliche Gratulation an dieser Stelle an das Studio Soi und Viola!

Als bester Kurzfilm wurde auch Disneys Get a Horse! mit einer Nominierung bedacht, in den anderen Kategorien finden sich bekannte Filme, Serien und Shows wie Adventure Time, The Hobbit, The Legend of Korra, Tron Uprising, Pacific Rim, Beware the Batman oder Futurama. Für kleine Überraschungen dürften die Nennungen von Filmen wie Planes, Turbo und A Monster in Paris sorgen.

Der Winsor McCay Award geht dieses Jahr an Katsuhiro Otomo (Schöpfer und Regisseur von Akira), Steven Spielberg und Phil Tippett (SFX- und VFX-Legende) für ihre Beiträge in der Animation. Der June Foray Award wird Alice Davis (Kostümdesignerin für zahlreiche Disneyfilme, ausserdem Ehefrau von Marc Davis, einer der Nine Old Men) für ihren “bedeutenden, wohltätigen und barmherzigen Einfluss auf die Kunstform und Industrie der Animation” verliehen.

Was für die Filmwelt der Oscar ist, sind für die Animationswelt die Annies und wird von der “International Animated Film Society” (ASIFA) vergeben. Neben Kinoproduktionen werden auch TV-Produktionen mit Bezug zur Animationskunst wie auch Artists aus den verschiedensten Bereichen (z.B. VFX oder Character Animation) ausgezeichnet.

Die Gewinner der 41. Annie Awards werden am 1. Februar 2014 in Los Angeles verkündet. Nachfolgend sämtliche Kategorien und die Nominierungen:

    Die Frage ist doch eigentlich – und ich hoffe, nicht wie Ed Catmull zu klingen – kann ich eine Veranstaltung, die Turbo in der Kategorie der Regieführung nominiert, wirklich ernst nehmen? ;-)
